The relationship between abundance and prevalence of trematode parasites infecting Lymnaea stagnalis L.

Abstract

The relationship between the prevalence and abundance (infection intensity) of trematode parasites infecting Lymnaea stagnalis L. was investigated based on collections a snails from 12 sites in central UK. Five species of trematode were recorded from the snails. There was a significant positive relationship between the prevalence and abundance (intensity of infection) of trematode species.
